Bluff-Check-Raise, and its value in medium-stakes online poker.

I got this from a video Gus posted through ThePlayr.com – and obviously he has a point. Check-raising represents an extremely strong hand, and in the games Gus plays I’m assuming this strategy, if used rarely, works like a charm. Here’s what he says:

Well, from my experience in medium- and low-stakes online No-Limit Hold’em games, I can tell you this strategy is a lot less valueble the lower the stakes get. Try to use it only when you have a good read on your low-stakes opponent, because on average they will not be experienced enough to understand your advanced play, or even what BASIC representation you’re trying to make WITH your advanced play. Beware!

Gus Hansen Loses a M, Wins a M back

This is Gus Hansen naked. I mean he’s not naked but he’s talking to us 100% pure, talking about a 2-month cold streak and climbing back out of it in one night. This is not Gus empostering about winning a million, it’s Gus talking about winning a million in 3 days and still being down for a 2-month period.

Gus is a gambler, and it’s video blogs like this that school players like us — playing lower levels and having a hard time coping with losing streaks. Thanks, Gus!
